First proclaimed by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) at its 40th General Conference in 2019, World Engineering Day is celebrated on the 4th of March of each year.

This day presents an opportunity to highlight and celebrate engineers and engineering achievements in the modern world today. It also helps improve public understanding of how engineering and technology are essential for modern life and sustainable development.

March 4th is the founding day of the WORLD FEDERATION OF ENGINEERING ORGANIZATION (WFEO), a federation made up of hundred national members and international members representing the engineering society of the world.

This day is being utilized as a springboard for awareness-raising actions, celebrating, and promoting engineering as a career and highlighting how engineering can change the world for the better.
